Hey there trojan2004...
Being a Bruin, I normally wouldn't help out a Trojan but since my fiance is at Marshall, I guess I can help ya out. (I hope you know I'm joking!) 😀
Anyway, I've been doing research at Drew U for the past two years and I know the director for the family medicine residency program at Drew well. He's been on faculty at the Drew med school for many years and also serves on the admissions committee. I shadow him weekly and have gotten to know quite a bit about the Drew med program.
I honestly love the mission of Drew and have wanted to go there ever since my premed days at UCLA. But, currently it is really chaotic over there while they try to smooth out the problems with the residency program. They don't have too many permanent directors for the program and since they are at risk of losing accredidation for all of their residency programs....they are also risking funding loss from sources like LA county. Anyway, I'm just afraid that the med students would be jeopardized next.
I'm not saying that it is a total risk..BUT I would be a bit "iffy" on attending Drew because I've worked so hard to get to this point in my potential medical career and would not want it falling apart during my clinical years. Don't get me wrong, I love Drew University, I believe very strongly in their mission and hope for nothing but the best outcomes for the program. But I know that although I wouldn't be attending their medical school, it DOES NOT mean that I will not serve the underserved communities of LA. These are my personal opinions so take them with a grain of salt...but I think that they do stem from very viable concerns.
As for the secondary, I completed mine about a month ago (before I knew of all these problems the program was having). Anyway, upon calling the admissions office, they told me that it was okay to type the questions and answers on a word document. Then on the original secondary type "see attached". I know that it specifically says not to attach but if you have a hard time trusting the Bruin, call them, speak to Wanda Hall and she will reassure you that I speak truthfully!
Good Luck with the secondary and the rest of this insane process. I wish you the best!
