Hi all - wow, it's been something like 17 years since I last posted here!

I'm a nontraditional candidate in that I'm mid-career EM applying to an HPM fellowship. Due to life circumstances, family, etc, I am only applying to one program.

My question is this: on the ERAS app, there's a place to indicate geographic preference and then add a comment. Is it to my advantage to indicate that I am only applying to this one program? I figure it will indicate my commitment, but I want to make sure I am not overlooking any downside to this tactic.

Thanks!

Imo you would be upfront about that when meeting them at interview day, as well as in your personal statement. It's got to be a good fit for both of you. They are going to be your friends and colleagues, or not. Knowing that you're geographically limited will help them rank you highly if they think so, too.

As for your question about it being "to your advantage"? I wouldn't treat it with so much game theory like the med school application days. Just be straightforward.
