Is it known to be easier to be accepted to a new pharmacy school for the first year only or until they receive full accreditation? How long does that usually take?

Well it is and it isn't always easier. Sometimes the news schools can be very particular about what they are looking for in thier first class. The school needs to get pre-canidate staus before they can accept students. Then during the first year they come for a second on site visit to see if they are granted canidate status. until the first graduating class they can't recieve full accreditation. But canidate students are given the same rights as accredited school and you can take the board. But I believe the accreditation may also depend on the percent of students who need to pass the board exam so its like a two way street!

So what happens if the first class graduates and the school does not get accredited? What happens with the P1's-P3's at that school? Are they just screwed? 👎

Students that graduate from a school with candidate status are still able to sit for the NAPLEX and practice as a pharmacist. The majority of schools gain full-accreditation after they graduate their first class. However, there are a few that haven't. The only one I've heard of is Appalachian College of Pharmacy (don't take my word for it, I think I read that sometime on the forums). They are fully accredited now though.
