Applying to OOS schools

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
It's not worth applying to a ton of them, but if there are some that really interest you it could be worth applying to them. Check into which schools reclassify their residency for years 2-4, because if you're accepted to one of those you'll get in-state tuition those years. Also, it depends on if you're from a state that has its own in-state public school, and if not, whether or not nearby schools have agreements with your state for admissions purposes (WICHE and similar stuff like that).

Short answer: yes if you really want to go there and aren't just casting a wide net to up chances of acceptance. Private schools are better suited for that.
I'm in North Carolina and go to UNC undergrad, so will definitely be applying here and ECU, but I haven't actually heard of agreements with other state schools that might be available. Is this only offered to students in states that don't have state dental schools?

The attached file will be immensely helpful to you deciding which public OOS schools you want to include on your app.

Wow thanks so much!

I'm currently in the process of making spreadsheet of my own from the ADEA guide I bought a couple weeks ago so this should definitely help out a lot too.
