Applying to Post Bac through AMCAS

Some schools require students to apply to their medical school in order to be considered for their post bac program. This is still the case when one is strickly pursuing admission into a post bac program and not looking to be accepted into medical school yet. I was adivsed not to consider any program which only seeks participants this way. How do you feel about applying to post-bac programs through AMCAS?

The GEM program and Ohio State MEDPATH are two that I can think of off the top of my head.

I applied to Ohio State purely for MEDPATH. I completed my undergraduate work at Ohio State and heard great things about the program.
