Applying to programs via ERAS QUESTION

Need quick help, we are puzzled in this ERAS application for 2009 match.

We finalized all information in ERAS, including LORs, our last LOR was recieved on ECFMG postoffice on Aug21th.

We applied to many IM programs on Sept 2nd via ERAS, now our application status indicates that many programs have downloaded information, but my LOR #3 indicates that it is not uploaded to post office yet.

Please tell will this cause any issue with programs interesting in my application, since my 1 LOR is not available hence my application is not complete till it is uploaded to post office.

Also do we have to do something additional in NRMP, we registered as indipendent applicant, and now our status is verified.

PLEASE ADVISE, as your help is much appreciated.

Who is this "we" you speak of. Also you list yourself as a resident, yet you are applying to residencies?

At any rate, you can apply, programs can download stuff, and an LOR can show up later -- that's all fine and normal.

Thx for the info. So that means programs will come back to file/portal and download missing information. Will this thing could be considered as negative point for considering for interview candidates, as i am sure many people will have complete information at ERAS post office by now.

Most people still have LORs, transcripts, etc. trickling in. I'd be surprised if the majority are complete. And nobody has dean's letters in yet.

According to the ECFMG website, they are currently scanning documents received on Aug 21, so I expect your spouse's last letter will be downloaded to rpograms in the next 1-2 days. You are still way ahead of the game. Registering with NRMP is fine, nothing else to do but wait for interviews.

Who is this "we" you speak of. Also you list yourself as a resident, yet you are applying to residencies?

do not worry...this is all normal (the letter not showing up yet, etc.). This happens because ERAS gets backed up at this time of year...lots of people mailed in LOR's, and ERAS takes up to 10 - 14 working days to upload these sometimes. Check back in the ERAS postoffice in a couple of days, and it will most likely be updated...actually I think they will send you an email stating when the letter is uploaded.

Don't worry about the programs being mad or something...or forgetting to come back and download the 3rd letter. I noticed that most of the programs download stuff once or twice a week...so you'll look back later in a week or two and they will have downloaded your 3rd/last recommendation letter when it is available. It's still very early in the application season so I don't think you have to worry about missing deadlines at this point...unless it's for one of those weird early match specialties like urology or something. I think your spouse is applying internal medicine so do not worry...probably she will not hear much of anything until November or December.
