I applied to a specialty program last year (ortho) and had several interviews, but did not match (perhaps I do not interview well?).
Is it worth applying to the same programs that offered me interviews again or would it be a waste of money?
Do programs typically re-interview the same applicants from the previous cycle or do they stay clear?
Tips?

I would without a doubt reapply to those that offered you interviews, there's no way to know if they liked you but at least they gave you a shot. And if they liked you at their interview they may appreciate your will to not give up if that's what you really want. Just make sure if you go back to tell them what you've learned and how you've tried to improve your resume (ortho CE courses, ortho book self-study, etc.) to show your desire to become an orthodontist.

I am apprehensive because if I was not accepted, it was due to them not liking me, and why would they waste their time interviewing someone they had no desire in when they can interview someone they think could be better instead?

Or, just as likely, maybe they matched their top 5 and you were number 6 on their list. They may have liked you a lot and you just missed out due to a numbers game. You can do what you want but I think it's a mistake to not reapply unless you got signals during the interview that they did not like you.

What kind of signals do you usually look for?
