Hi everyone:

I have doubts that I may not be admitted into podiatry to be seated for 2013. Therefore, I wanted to apply to both DPM and DPT programs, is this possible? Or will the schools know and automatically reject me for showing interest in two programs? I would not apply to the same school to two different programs, I would apply to two DIFFERENT programs at two DIFFERENT examples:

For example:

I wouldnt apply to westernu's podiatry and physical therapy school
I would apply to westernu's podiatry and UW physical therapy school

Has anyone does this?

Why do you have doubts?

Do you want to be a Podiatrist or a Physical Therapist?

My post came out wrong. I hope I will be admitted. Due to a parents health, I may need to stay in Texas (driving distance) as of right now, that may change depending on the health. That is why I am considering DPT programs in Texas! I wish there was a pod school here 🙁 Anyways, is it okay to apply to both programs? Or does admissions somehow find out?

Your podiatry application will ask you some variation of "are you applying to other graduate varieties of medical school ie. MD, DO, etc." Also - you can't apply to different programs at the same school*.

That said - your posts time and time again are a real puzzle to read. You seem to be asking a very personal question that only you can answer. If you are staying in Texas because of your parents health then you need to do what you need to do to answer your family's obligations in a manner that fits your compass. If you want to do DPT school and fulfill your obligations - great. Podiatry and DPT have very little in common so I suspect there will be a bit of skepticism from other posters on being interested in both. Its not like applying to both DO and MD.

*Well, again this varies school to school. I believe the DMU website indicates you can't apply to DO, DPM, DPT in the same application cycle. Its been indicated on here that Temple may accept students who were not accepted into their dental program.

I don't think its a dealbreaker, but I'm not on admissions.

What I do know is only personal experience. On my DMU interview, I was asked which DO/MD programs I was applying to (I'm not sure why it was asked this way, as I'd given no indication that I was applying elsewhere) and they seemed pretty surprised when I told them I was only applying for podiatry.
