Quick question - If I can't get into the summer class I need in a few weeks, it's going to postpone my completion of all pre-reqs.

I will have one final pre-req to take (ochem II) and will finish in December. Ideally, I'd like to apply as early as possible. Should I submit applications in June/July or wait until December after I've finished ochem II.

Additionally, would you recommend someone go ahead and take the MCAT having not taken ochem II? If you wouldn't recommend this, I'd have to take the MCAT sometime after December...which would probably mean I should wait until the next cycle to apply, correct?

As long as you finish all of the pre-req's before you matriculate into med school it doesn't matter much.

As far as taking the MCAT without Ochem 2, I don't think it is a big deal. I did it without. Most of the things are boiled down to the more basic concepts from my own experience. I wouldn't push the MCAT that late, and wait an extra year if you don't have to.

Thanks for the advice.

One follow up - will schools even review my app/make interview invitations if they don't have all of my pre-req grades yet?

My understanding, you will say when you plan on completing them when you apply, and that is it. You need get them all done before you start at the school, but not before you are interviewed/accepted.

Of course it is better to have more done when you apply to show your competence, but with only one missing it shouldn't make a difference.
