I have a W (withdrawl) on my transcript from 2 semesters ago. I got it bc my major advisor forgot to file my drop form on time. He said it would be no problem dropping the class, but when i checked a while later the classes were dropped, but there appears in large bold letters in their place "LATE DROP".

I maybe able to get the school to remove the "LATE DROP" but it may take a few more weeks to do this. How bad does the late drop really look? Besides that mark i had almost straight As that semester. Should i go talk to him and wait the extra few weeks before i send primaries? Or should i send in my primaries bc the "late drop" probably doesn't matter too much, and my primaries are already getting late?

Thanks.

One W isn't likely to hurt you in anyway.

I went into most semesters with more classes than I had planned on keeping and dropped which ever class I disliked the most. No one at any interview, MD or DO, ever asked me about my Ws. I probably have like 5 or 6 on my transcript too.
Espeically given that you had a good GPA. What ever you do the best advice I can give is to not be late with applications. Dont delay turning something in to a school because of this.

i second mega. submit the primary asap -- submitting it really late is worse than a W. if it does come up in an interview, have an excuse, and you should be fine.

That's really good to hear, I have 5 or 6 on my t-scripts and wasn't sure how much doom and destruction it was going to cause on my applications 😱

Good to hear. But my gpa isn't great, its about avg for the schools i want to apply to.

If you have a good GPA one W will not be an issue. I had 6 interviews and it only came up in one of them.

I wouldn't worry about a W too much...I have at least 2 or 3 of those - and I have 7 interviews and two acceptances so far. I agree with the others: get the application stuff in as soon as possible!!

Well that's a relief! I definately have 3 and was worried about that. Whew. I'm glad that you posted that.
