Applying without a US degree?

Thanks for any comment.

2001 BS degree in Biological science from a college in China with GPA about 3.0;
2007 Ph.D in Biochemistry from an research institute in China about 3.3;
2007-2011 Postdoctoral researcher in a medical school in Texas.

2011-present: 97 credit hours with a perfect GPA (4.0) in US (community college+state university). I have done with all the pre-requesites and taken the MCAT yesterday (April 27, 2013).

I plan to apply for medical schools this cycle.

1) But, do you think applying without a US BS degree is unwise and I should wait for another year to get a second BS degree from the present university?

2) How many credit hours will you have before applying?

PS: Neither AAMC nor TMDSAS will count foreign course works when calculating GPA. And most medical schools have a requirement of minimum of 90 credit hours.

Thanks for any insight!
1) I believe it is a rare US AMCAS med school that requires a US or Canadian BS degree (Mayo comes to mind) but you'll probably want to have your international coursework evaluated by a transcript evaluation service (like WES) if you haven't done so already, as amny schools will want to see it. Since policies can change from year to year, it is probably best to call each school you'll apply to and check on their policy if it isn't clearly spelled out on their website. I am less familiar with TMDSAS schools.

2) I'm not sure what you're asking here. You should be fine applying with at least 90 US credit hours.

Thanks, Catalystik!

I will start the evaluation right now.
