Not sure if it's best for me to go ahead and push "submit" on September 1st, without having any new LOR's (The last ones I have are from my med school rotations in 2008).

I keep procrastinating... i get so embarrassed to ask for LOR's, not sure why- but I really need to get over this fear/shyness...

and lastly- i dont anticipate any new letters to be in for at least a month (request from letter writers, scanned & uploaded by ecfmg etc)

Good question. I have 5 letters of rec from late 2007 to mid 2009. Two are from clinical preceptors in the field in which I want to match. Are they considered outdated to the point that it could negatively impact my ability to get an interview?

What have you been doing since then? 2 years is kind of a long time without clinical experience and the resultant new letters.

The conventional wisdom is that your letters should be from the current academic year (or the prior yr at worst). Letters older than that will have minimal impact as the readers will be asking the same question I did at first.

Worst case scenario, beg your earlier writers to copy and paste their first letter into a new one with today's date.
