Hi guys,

I have some questions about the April 30th deadline for selecting a medical school.

I have one acceptance from a medical school and currently on the "waitlist" for another.

Do I need to formally accept my one acceptance by April 30th, and if so, what is the process for this? (I already submitted my deposit) Do I need to tell them by email?
What would happen if I don't hear back from the other school I am waitlisted for after April 30th?
If that second school decides to accept me after April 30th, would I not be allowed to attend?

Thanks for your help!

There is probably a formal process for accepting the acceptance, most likely through a portal that was likely completed when you submitted the deposit. It couldn't help to send an email for your own peace of mind, because I always worry about bureaucratic stuff!

Nothing.

You would still be allowed to attend the waitlist school.

I'd send an email confirming to them that you are now holding a position only with them and will be matriculating. They are able to see that they are the only place that has admitted you and you should have already filed intent-to-matriculate, so even if you didn't contact them and simply let the deadline pass, you should be fine. But, better to be safe.

You are always allowed to withdraw your intent in May/June/whenever if you are pulled from the waitlist somewhere else.

Oh, I see. Is the policy then to not hold more than one acceptance after April 30th, but is okay to hold multiple waitlists?
