Hi All,
I am new here, so this question may be already asked many times. Please bare with me...
I am planning to submit my MCAT with the April score. However, based on the result, I might decide to take it again in August. Will the top schools reconsider my chances when they get the new scores (ie. re-read my application files)?

Another question on the EC section of AMCAS: can I lump several school awards together into one item? Is this common practice? Also, I now many of the SDNers have a lot of awards, how many slots out of the 15 allowed do you allow your awards to take up (like 5 out of the 15)?

Thank you so much!

Its pretty much a done deal once you click submit. If you select to wait for the August scores, your AMCAS will not be complete until the August scores are in, and thus med schools will not get your completed AMCAS application until October. Look at it this way, once you click submit, you won't be able to update AMCAS on any new grades (e.g.: summer school or fall quarter), so clearly the same thing happens with MCAT scores.

Regards to yur second question, I'm not sure, but I would think it should be as accurate as possible.

Select the "no" option when they ask if you're gonna take the Aug MCAT if you think your April scores are good enough to get you interviews. You can ask the schools to re-review your file when the new scores come out. But if you check the box that indicates that you're taking the August MCAT, you won't be reviewed at all until October.

I'd wait until you see your scores before making the decision
