OK, in the Profile tab of the ERAS application, it asks if we have our ECFMG certificate. I know some programs want us to have it 'by application' time.

But in my case, I don't have a passing CK exam {yet} but hopefully will eventually have it soon, and thus be ECFMG certified.

So even though I don't have that certificate "now", do you recommend that I click YES for that question? Because I don't want to be screened out just because programs will see that I don't have the ECFMG certification, not knowing that I soon will [hopefully] have it.

Thanks, and I hope this made sense.

From my experience with my school, you cannot click "yes" when you are not actually certified now. My school is a well-known foreign school and I will be certified when I graduate but I have clicked "no" under that portion because my school told us that is what we should do. I have a passing CK score but I am not and cannot be certified until I graduate. Since you don't have your CK results back yet, I don't think that you should say that you are certified at this moment. But, I think the best thing would be to ask your school.

Almost having your ECFMG is not having an ECFMG certificate. Answering yes without having a full ECFMG certificate is fraud. If caught, you will be completely thrown out of ERAS. "Close" only counts in horse shoes and hand grenades. The answer to the question is no. If you get screened out, it's because you don't have an ECFMG certificate which is required for application. Trying to work around that will only get you in big trouble.

Thanks as always.

LoL, funny too.

aPD (and others), I didn't want to make a separate thread for this so here's another question:

After submitting myERAS and applying to x-number of programs, can I still apply to more/new programs? Or do I have to pick all the programs I want to apply to before clicking Submit/Apply?

Yes, you can apply to programs whenever you like, at the initial submission time or any point afterward (up to the program's deadline).

I am IMG currently permanent resident. Next year I will be applying for US citizenship. When I submit the application when the time has come I will change the citizenship status in my ERAS application to citizen.
My question is will PD's be able to see that change from their site if they are checking on application updates or I have to notify them by short email when the status is changed for them to check it.
Thanks

This won't really matter. Green Card vs. Citizen is not a big deal. As long as they don't have to get you a visa (or worry you won't be able to work if you don't get yourself a visa), they won't care.

Agreed. And, it will be instantly updated on our end also. The only notification we get is that your application was "updated". But, if I filter for US citizens, you'd appear.

As mentioned, there is no employment difference for PR/Cit so no one will care.
