Hi all,

I was wondering if anyone took AP exams in college that didn't count for college credit? Did you have to input that coursework into AMCAS/AACOMAS?

I ask because I took two AP exams and basically just drew on the exams and got 1s. I didn't receive college credit for either obviously.

I assume only AP scores where one receives college credit is only calculated into the GPA but what about for people who didn't receive any sort of credit for it?

AP courses aren't calculated into your GPA at my school. I just got a Pass for all of mine. I think it's the same at other schools.

? neither are calculated into GPA, they just see that you got college credit for the ones you passed. They don't even see the ones you didn't pass.

As far as anybody knows, you didn't get a letter grade, you got a "credit earned"

Why ask a question that was already answered?

In what you quoted, no less.

Because in another thread there is discussion about AP credit counting toward AMCAS GPA (sorry, slightly freaking out here).

No, nothing that appears as a P/F on the transcript can be calculated into the AMCAS GPA, since there is no actual letter grade.

So, for the two AP exams I got 1s for and that I didn't receive any sort of college credit for, I don't have to report that, right?

In the AMCAS manual I believe it says only report AP classes if you receive credit for them and they appear on your transcript. You can look that up, but really don't worry about it. If you didn't receive a letter grade it cannot be calculated in your AMCAS GPA, and even if ADCOMS could see your scores (which I am 99.9% percent sure they can't) I doubt they will care what you got on an AP Exam in high school.

Advanced Placement (AP)
To claim AP credit, the credit hours must be listed on your transcript.

AP credit/coursework is counted if and only if credit has been awarded by a college/university. Further, it only can be counted in GPA if a letter grade is assigned. The NSC report is simply a mechanism for the College Board to distribute AP scores to schools/colleges.

You only have to include AP classes that appear on your college transcript. So if you did not get college credit for a class, do not include it. You do not need to include your AP score, just the classes you got credit for.

Thank you so much! I am relieved. @gyngyn looks like a lot of us will be okay!
