I think this could be useful information, because many of the background check threads are about convictions and other concerns. As the title of this thread states, I am wondering if background checks are transferable between medical schools if you are accepted to multiple schools.

Would I need to pay for a new background check for each school I am accepted to?

OR

Is it simply a matter of "sharing" my background check with each school?

I recently used QualifiedFirst via Verified Credentials for one school, so I know there is an option to share results.

Thanks for your replies.

I was not able to, but the schools I was accepted to used different agencies

I doubt it because of the different services that are avaliable and then there is an issue of time frame. Had you already gotten a background check for a school and then got accepted to a different school that you wanted to go to more, or are you holding onto multiple acceptances?

Even though I don't do anything stupid, I can see why a school would do this... they don't know me.

I am holding only one acceptance at the moment, waiting on two WLs.

Gotcha. Well yeah unfortunately I think the odds are against you as far as using the same one (though it would be nice). But its worth a shot to ask one of the schools if they pull you off the WL.

AACOMAS does not use a standard service for background checks. So each DO school will vary. However, AMCAS does use a standard service for background checks so each MD school will be seeing the same exact report from the same company.
