If u live in a hostel:
no need to buy them u can always borrow it from seniors. Bone sets are traditionally handed over to the juniors by their seniors in hostel.
alternatively u can study them in anatomy museum. A good atlas can even obviate need for bone set. I used a bone set given to me by my senior after an ovenight session of ragging 😉 & McMinn's atlas which in turn was borrowed from library.
or else u can buy it in contribution with u r roommates or batchmates.
If u live with ur family or have an independent accomodation:
U must buy it. half the set is enough. Besides it look cool when ur sleeping with a human skull near by ur pillows when ur friends come to pay a visit to u! 😀
true!!!! go for a bone set even if it is incomplete but check it out the whole set before paying coz some times bone r not clean enough (especially if u buy it from some peon in anatomy department, some times they r not adquately dried) and sometimes they r broken.
during our univ. exams the one of external examiner had brought a skull with himself which had few artificial holes in it. People were stumped when they were asked what that foramen is called and what passes through it!
