I am a med student looking forward to do my residency in United States, as we all are aware how important are medical electives are to get the match. it's quite out of my budget at this point to do electives in States, however, Canada is more of an open option as I have relatives their who could help me with accommodations, my only concern right now is, does it worth it? Are Canadian electives treated same way in the states as US elective?

To answer your question, No, Canadian electives are not treated like U.S. electives.

Welcome to the forums.

Can you tell us more where you are going to medical school? From what you have written, it sounds like you are not a current US medical student. If you were, @gyngyn 's advice sounds appropriate. When you say you don't have the budget to do a clinical rotation in the US but you can in Canada... that begs the question where you are attending medical school. I think @KaiBuzz 's answer is the proper one for your situation.
