Are CASPER videos reviewed? Will I get a red flag for things that happened in the video?

Does anyone know about the video review process for CASPER? I said "Am I still not done with this d***a** test" out loud during the exam because I forgot I was being recorded. Is this the sort of thing Casper gives red flags for or do they only do that for written responses. Another issue is that my webcam slipped slightly upwards during the first half of the test. I didnt notice but im pretty sure the exam only caught half my face for like 25% of the test. At what point would I find out if my exam was voided? Would I find out at all if there was a red flag?

I think they score you strictly on the basis of your written responses and use the cam footage only if they want to investigate potential cheating activity.

If one of your written responses gets red-flagged, you’ll never find out... but schools will. If your test gets tossed out due to the technical issues you described, they’ll let you know.

You were just saying what everyone who takes it was thinking...but I am sure they would let you know if your test was thrown. Likely would let you know within the three weeks of grading. But I doubt it would be an issue imo

My friend, I am sorry that my post has sprouted the seed of neurotism for you. Mine has become a tree already. Anyways, unfortunately this was what i found from their terms and conditions (I think you already read this since you made reference to the "red flags":

....Scorers of the CASPer Examination may from time to time flag certain inappropriate or unusual responses as \”Red Flags\”.
-This is talking about the written portion, not the video/audio they collect

....Altus may also, at its sole discretion share other information collected through your use of the Site, such as communications with applicant support, concerns about your identity etc., with the Academic Programs.

Now this is unfortunate for us because they remain rather vague due to the (etc.) nature. TBH, I think sharing the use of foul language is fair game based off of what this says. I'm already starting to move on from the list of schools that take CASPer from my list (thankfully only 9/34). You should contact them tomorrow anonymously (I have contacted them regarding another issue, they are not a machine, it's a live chat system), let them know about the situation (just say you were frustrated and swore a few times), and ask if that could be used against you (if they can, would, or do report those issues).

Also, you would find out if your exam was voided, they would contact you. You would not find out if you received a red flag.

Dear ********* ,

On behalf of the CA$per examination committee I regretfully inform you your exam will not be graded. An investigation of your video recording showed you said "am I done with this d***a** test". A statement such as this is not an ethical or appropriate response to our questions. Our committee felt your opinions towards this test has biased your responses. I hope you will ponder upon this error while you work at McDonald's, not being a doctor.

Sincerely,

CA$per committee
Ummmmm, I don't think this is the time or place to be making fun.... kind of a low blow tbh

You are correct that the score won't get affected, but I think OP (and myself included), are more worried about getting red-flagged. I gave the reasons how you can get red-flagged a few posts up. They are very vague in their terms and conditions, so it would appear that they could use the video/audio as a means to red-flag you. What do you think?

I believe medical schools just see your score. They aren't given the audio or picture of you.

That's true, but CASPer also can send comments as well, such as red flags. The question is will they send inappropriate language during the exam as a red flag

Wait there may be a silver lining!!!!! (Hmmmmm is law is my future?)

So this is their policy on using personal information (which includes the video/audio):

"As further described in our Privacy Policy, by using this Site, you allow us collect and use your personal information (including, without limitation, your name, date of birth, address, phone number, government issued identification, audio recording, video and/or photo images, and application identifiers) (“Personal Information”) in order to, without limitation: (i) validate your identity; (ii) determine your eligibility for Altus’ online services and your eligibility to take the CASPer Examination; (iii) verify your identification with any relevant centralized application service; (iv) identify you properly to the colleges, universities or other educational facilities (or their designees or agents) which you have selected on the Site for Altus to send your CASPer Examination results to (collectively, the “Academic Programs”); (v) communicate with you regarding your account, test reservation and test results (vi) ensure that your Personal Information and Examination Data (as defined below), is correctly shared with the selected Academic Programs; (vii) manage the relationship between you, Altus and the Academic Programs.
Altus’ use and disclosure of your Personal Information and Examination Data is limited to the purposes described in this policy and Altus does not otherwise sell, trade, barter, exchange or disclose for consideration any such information."

In other words, they cannot use our personal information for any other purpose, including reasons to send red-flags/comments if it does not have to do with identity concerns. What do y'all think?

I am curious how adcoms view that test. It seems like there is zero transparency. A lot of the prompts seem like things you can navigate with minimal social awareness though whether you'd do those things in real life is another matter.

They’re not going to use your audio and visual content for the purpose of red-flagging. The stuff you do on cam isn’t part of the test, and their graders aren’t trained to evaluate your on-camera behavior. If one of your written responses makes you sound extremely immoral or dangerous, they’re gonna red flag it; otherwise, they’ll just assign it a score based on whatever subjective criteria they’re instructed to use.

If it makes you feel any better, throughout my Casper exam, I was muttering blasphemous things to myself (stuff like, “oh, **** me” and “**** you, Jennifer”), and I still got II’s from the two schools on my list that required it. If the audio mattered, then I probably would’ve had 48 red flags.

The Casper exam is total garbage, and it measures typing speed and BSing-under-pressure skills more than anything else. Take it, submit it, and forget about it. Not worth working yourself up over it.

not limited to?
I was unsure about that aspect as well, however, the bottom paragraph mentions its uses are "limited to the purposes described in this policy". In other words, since there is a limitation on the use, that makes me think that when it says "without limitation" above, that it can do it unlimited, in other words, as long as its in the storage, it can keep on looking at the videos and pictures (it doesn't have 1 attempt, it doesn't have 2, it has unlimited).

That makes me feel 10000% better. Also, thank you and the poster for teaching me new words I can use in my angry vocab: such as d***a** and blasphemy! Seriously though, thanks for you comment, glad to know there's someone else who got a little flustered during the test as I did.
