Hi...

I'm studying for my CPJE for California licensing. Rxprep says that hydrocodone combinations will move from CIII to CII by mid February 2013.

For those working in pharmacies now, are hydrocodone combinations actually CII yet? If not then when?

Thanks in advance...

Do you mean combinations of oxycodone, yes these combinations are always C2,however, I am not aware that hydrocodone combinations make it to C2 category, if I remember right these combinations are C3. I remain to be corrected.

Thanks you.

I know about oxycodone of course they are CII whether in combinations or not.
Anyway, since nobody here seemed to help so I asked my friends and they told me NO, hydrocodone combs are still CIII... it didn't go as planned because pharmacies, companies and many others fought against moving hydrocodones up from CIII to CII...

Thanks for replying...👍

I know you're studying for the CPJE, but in New- York it is a CII check this out :

Per the Bureau of Narcotic Enforcement (http://www.health.ny.gov/professionals/narcotic/),
effective February 23, 2013, the following changes will be made to the controlled
substance schedules in Section 3306 of the New York State Public Health Law. Where
applicable, some common brand name pharmaceutical preparations containing the
controlled substances are listed in bold:
Schedule II Additions:
 Hydrocodone (dihydrocodeinone) (Vicodin®, Lortab®, Tussionex®) This action
renders all products containing hydrocodone, including but not limited to
hydrocodone in combination with acetaminophen or ibuprofen, Schedule II.
Schedule III Deletions:
 Hydrocodone (dihydrocodeinone) (Vicodin®, Lortab®, Tussionex®) This action
renders all products containing hydrocodone, including but not limited to
hydrocodone in combination with acetaminophen or ibuprofen, Schedule II.
Schedule IV Additions:
 Tramadol (Ultram®, Ultacet®, Ryzolt&#8482😉
Practitioners and pharmacists are responsible for ensuring prescriptions for all controlled
substances including the medications listed above conform to all requirements of the law
and regulations, both federal and state. Article 33 of the Public Health Law and Title 10
Part 80 Rules and Regulations on Controlled Substances in New York State may be
accessed via the following website:

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) regarding these changes to the controlled substance
schedule can be found at the following website:

It's CII in NY cause in January, some peeps in the pharmacy straight up got MURDERED for CIII hydrocodone combos. Some junkie came in and held everyone up, there was a scuffle, people died and he stole all the CIII hydrocodone combo pills. Hydrocodone itself is already a CII but combo is CIII? Makes no sense.

May be a CII soon in CA, but it's not yet.

Hydrocodone is still C-3 in CA. There's still a lot of debate going on and I don't think it will be changed to C-2 this year.

Oh thx... I'm sorry, I'm not really good studying in groups or with a partner. But you're welcome to message me any questions. I get a notification through my email... that way I can answer you quicker...

Good luck 🙂
