Sorry for a naive, and possibly premature question. I recently started a new job that doesn't lend itself well to my missing any days. Of course, I have no idea if i'll even have interviews yet, but if I do get interviews I'd like to not miss any work. So, do most schools do interviews on weekends, or at least on Fridays?

Nope. Vast majority of schools do weekdays only.

Extreme example: One school even called me on a Wednesday afternoon and told me to be there by Friday morning. I was OOS and had to fly there.

I had a pretty good job, but had to quit because DS applications/related stuff were taking too much time :/

Nope weekdays. But the interview dates are given at least a month in advance giving you at least some time to ask for time off.

I remember last year they had some on Thursday's too.

Two days before?! :wow:

It felt like even less since essentially had to book my flight for the next day (not cheap btw). I asked them if i could delay and they said they couldnt guramtee they would have another interview date. So yeah do not expect much flexibility in regards to interviews. Granted this was an extreme case and partially my fault for applying late.

I would say it was worth it, but I didn't even get accepted. Each time I call the school and speak to the admissions counselor she is very nice and spends about 30mim-45min complementing me as an applicant. When I ask what I should be doing/what should I do to prepare for next cycle she says nothing. She says I'm qualified as is, but it's just an issue of space, but they have accepted several other people since. Bottom line she is super nice, I was honored to interview there, but I still feel mislead a little bit.

My point is: You may feel like interviews are coming in and go well but there are no guarantees. Even if after you are wait listed they make it seem like you are a "strong candidate." So if you quit your job make sure you have a backup plan for if you do not get accepted this cycle.

Ah no. Well, that's unfortunate. Well, I guess should be very thankful if I get interviews. If they go well and I get in this cycle, I'll be very thankful. Even though my employer will probably be unhappy with me.
