I'm sure this topic may have been addressed elsewhere, but the search function is shot.
I interviewed at most of my top choice schools after New Year's, and many from this past month. Should I expect waitlists since the class is basically filled up, or do I have as fair of a shot as someone that interviewed last fall?
Thanks.

Most schools plan their admissions process so late interviewees are not at much of a disadvantage, though I'm sure there are exceptions. If you really blow their socks off at interview, I'm sure they would be willing to accept you right away. Many adcoms assign a "score" by voting after they have reviewed your file and interview report. This is compared to other candidates scores after the interview season has finished, and then the waitlist is drawn up. If your score is borderline though, you might be waitlisted immediately, not at the end of the season.

Good luck!

I know for a fact that there are schools which state that all of their late March/April interviews are for the waitlist only.

not necessarily. it completely depends on the school. most of my interviews were in february, and none of these were for waitlists. loyola fills their class very early, so my interview in march was for the waitlist there. same thing with tulane i think, although the admissions people there sort of denied it/were sketchy about it when i asked. (i found it a little irritating that they weren't straightforward). uc's interview very late, and i don't think it is ever for the waitlist only. thus, it really depends on the school, and i don't think that many have policies where you can't get an outright acceptance if they loved you.
