Just curious cause I saw a post where someone said they got a few interviews but had a red flag LOR.

It's quite variable.
Where I work, the letters are at least skimmed before a interview is offered.
Even so, the committee will read them carefully before rendering a decision.

how did they know they had a red flag LOR? most applicants never see their letters. This appears to be hearsay

I know some of my letter writers (when I was planning to apply this cycle) sent me the letters beforehand, but I have no idea why someone would send in a LOR if they knew it had a red flag.

It was a post here I'm pretty sure. I think they asked schools for feedback and 2 separate schools told them one of their LORs was the issue.

I had two interviewers gas how amazing my letters were during my interview ... so definitely before for some schools
