I failed quantitative statistics for economics freshman year, retook it and got a C+. Retaking it, assuming I managed to get an A, would bump my cGPA 0.09 from 3.5x to 3.6x; however this would bring my total retakes for that class to two and my retakes overall to 4. Would this cause any red flags/concerns on my application? Should I just move on?

Any help and/or advice would be appreciated.

When did you retake the class, quantitative statistics?

Retaking that class wouldn't raise any red flags - the DO retake policy is here for a reason. But, I think it would be better to focus on any retakes needed to boost that sGPA first.

Pretty sure that's the key. Tbh though I really wouldn't worry about it. A 3.5 is plenty competitive so the C+ is certainly not a death sentence by any means. If you really want to retake it just to prove you can get an A in the course I don't see a problem with retaking, if it fits with your schedule. You just better be darn sure you can get an A.

I wouldn't even think twice about retaking this. Maybe if it were a science pre-req, but no one is going to care about a C in quantitative statistics.

(I retook this same course myself years ago before I was in the med school hunt. But, it was in the Sociology department.)

You'll be fine, but like others suggested your gpa is good enough without the retake, but if you have the money and can guarantee an A then go for it.

If retakes were frowned upon, the DO school classes would have maybe 25 students each!

Move on and take something more interesting.

Failed 2nd quarter freshman year, retook 3rd quarter freshman year. Considering retake 3rd quarter junior year.
I'm pretty sure I can get an A. The F was due to not studying, the C+ was due to a family medical emergency which made me miss the final and lose 30% of my grade.

So to summarize it seems retaking and getting an A > 4 retakes total on transcript?
Now to decide if I actually want to redo it. But that's something for me to mull over.

Thanks everyone for the input!
