Hey SDN, I don't know how the community feels as a whole about questions like this but I will ask anyways. Last year I applied to dental schools with 20AA/18TS, 3.3gpa, (3.0 science) and tons of extracurricular. I received no interviews and I even applied to "easy" schools (clearly not easy for me).

This year I will apply again with only 3 new science classes taken, all A's, 22AA/22TS, and even more dental shadowing. I live in California and will only be applying to California schools and Arizona schools, and Harvard just for ****s and giggles (my professor who wrote letter of rec is Harvard prodigy). I want to know if my DAT has increased my odds at all. I received 21+ in every section except PAT where I got 20. I know my new grades won't do much and I can imagine dental shadowing cannot add that much more weight if I already have a lot.

Can I expect at least one interview this year? It was pretty devastating last year.

You should of done a SMP.. a 3.0 is pretty low, even though you have a 22. I'm sure you'll get interviews though, but still. Why don't you go ahead and do a masters in biology with a program that's like 30 hours, and when you apply write that in your app. your app will look very attractive

I've applied for a 1 year masters program and I'm still waiting to hear back. There was only one school in my vicinity that offered 1 year program and it's difficult to get into so my fingers are crossed.

why are you only wanting to go to that? Apply all over the country and just go. Theres a lot of them that you WILL get into

I know one for sure that you will get into.. PM me if you want more info. I think you should try to do as much as you can to ensure you get in this cycle.. you DAT is good, but GPA is subpar so they will bring that up. If you go ahead and start a masters, you can say hey, I realize my gpa was low, however- I'm doing everything I can to show you guys I can do it

Hi @Futuredentguy2015 i've obviously heard of masters programs but what is this one you are talking about thats 30 hours? does it mean it takes 30 credit hours to complete which would be like a year?
