hello there everyone this is my first post in the pharmacy forum and i wanted your input on my chances of getting into pharmacy school. so here it goes:

im a junior here at Campbell University (private school) majoring in biology. i had a pretty rough freshman year, i did not fail anything but it hurt my gpa a little and im just now recovering! i am taking organic I this semester and i have an A calculus I -A, physics I-A, biomedical ethics-A , history II -A...and after organic II and physics II next semester i am done with prepharmacy prereqs, i anticipate my gpa to be around a 3.0 either way..possibly as high as 3.2 if i keep my grades at all A's like i have this semester. I have worked at CVS/Pharmacy for 5 years (since age 16) and im a CPhT. I have wanted to be a pharmacist since 4th grade--seriously. i have many LOR lined up from pharmacists i have worked with and my district supervisor, as well as a molecular genetics prof. i have not taken the PCAT but i will in march and i plan on taking it just one time. i think if i can study really hard for it and take practice tests i should be good to go.

with all of this being said what are my chances of getting into pharmacy school? as a side note i am retaking organic I. i skipped a line on my final exam of last fall's organic I with another prof...i went from a B to a D. unfortunate but hopefully an A will redeem myself.

do your schools require the PCAT? If so, you have absolutely zero chance, this year, I don't think I've heard of a school that will take this next coming March's scores. If they don't require it, your chances are fair to middlin' 😳 .... I'm in much the same situation, my gpa maybe a teensy higher, but I wont take the pcat until next saturday oct 21st.

I love college and you may find that going that extra year and finishing up your Bachelor's may be the way to go. Campbell's gets a lot of apps... and by finishing up your degree you are more able to control where you want to go than by rolling the dice and hoping to get in somewhere.

Whatever your decision, I wish you well.

well i was referring to applying NEXT fall...07'. i plan on taking the PCAT march 07'...about 5 months before apps. are taken. campbell doesnt require the PCAT but it is suggested that you take it and score within the 70th percentile. i just worry that my gpa is gonna kill me. i hope work experience will weigh somewhat in the decision 🙁 im just so worried about everything

Campbell has very strange admissions, and they take people with lower GPA.
Plus you go to the school!

So you should get first priority. You are paying a lot of money to take your course at the same place as the pharmacy school.

And the school is in the middle of nowhere by I-95 near Dunn!

haha thats funny! Campbell is in the middle of nowhere..i guess that means i pay high dollar for the view 🙂 i sure hope Campbell's strange admissions likes me....

Since when is the PCAT offered in March? Do you mean January?

i meant april sorry!

after reading many threads here i think i have made the decision to retake some classes i made C's in..i have 4 left i guess i should put them to good use next semester... my gpa goal is 3.3 by next fall.

hmmm.. i could have sworn it said april 🙁 well whenever it is i will take it...jus as long as i have a few months to prepare i should be good..i do fairly well on standardized tests. keepin' my fingers crossed
