Hi everyone,

I just got my Canadian DAT scores in.

Reading and Comprehension = 20
Biology = 19
Chemistry = 19
Science Total = 19
Academic Average = 19
Perceptual Ability = 16
Manual Dexterity Test = 19

Also, my GPA is 3.40. I have lots of job shadowing experience, volunteer work and some research.

Should I retake my DAT to do better? The score of 16 on the PAT is worrying me.

I think your score is good enough but with 3.3-3.4 GPA, you might gamble your chance when you apply. If you think you will score higher after retake, I highly recommend you to retake.
Apply early and broadly (~15 schools).

not to scare you, but when I finished with my DAT's I literally took my score sheet with me to the admissions office of the school I wanted to attend and was told "oh wow ... nothing lower than a 19, very good" so ...

You should call the dental schools you're applying tomand ask the minimum score form PAT the got accepted... That score is crucial, my school cuts off at 16 for PAT... Good luck... Your scores are average and so is your gpa. So you will be in the middle of the pack.

Depends what province you're in... Most weigh GPA the most and it's usually worth about 50-60% of the overall score so you might be in trouble there, you'll really need at least a 3.7 to get interviews in some places like Toronto/ubc.. To put things in perspective the average accepted student's dat score in Umanitoba was 22.18 last year, the AA+PAT+carving average. Just to interview it was 18.33 cutoff... So I would seriously consider re-writing and boosting that GPA up.

I think the PAT might not look too good. The rest of the scores are fine, but if you retake try aiming for a 20 because of the 3.4 gpa. Goodluck!

I think your score is fine-not great but "alright/will do". The worrisome thing is your GPA. Additionally pat is too low. Unfortunately I don't think your chances are good.

You can gamble and apply but your will be wasting money. I think you should retake Dat and improve.

unless rest of your application is amazing if I were you I would retake Dat and not waste money on applying. Sure other people with same/even lower scores have gotten on but again its not common.
