thanks for looking, first off I didn't get interested in medicine until before my junior year so I didn't do anything freshman and sophomore year, this correlates strongly with an upward trend etc.
Clinical:
-100hrs hospital volunteer helping patients out of bed and walking around to prevent bed sickness etc. did this over 1.5 years
-Just began hospice volunteering for Alzheimer's patients, once a week for year long commitment. Will have probably 15 hours by the time I apply (just started last week)
Shadowing:
-40hrs, 4 different specialties
-shadowed two classes for surgeons, 24hours total with live cadaver/animal labs(the ones you go to on a weekend to learn new techniques more in depth etc from someone very well versed in their respective fields.)
Research:
-2800hrs, one first author pub in journal with if above 3, two second author abstracts presented at national conferences (I didn't present though) and another second author publication in the works but probably not before I apply.
-3 different labs, current full time job for the past year in one of the labs with 45hrs/week.
Nonclinical:
-soupkitchen/food bank- 20hrs, just started in March and only can do some weekends due to job but plan on continuing.
-Special Olympics: ~35hrs helping at tournaments. Just started as asst coach for the summer season, will only be like 10 hours by the time I apply
I know hours are probably low but is there anything that sticks out as being not good? And it probably seems like I just started some stuff but that was all due to timing (coaching in summer for a sport I know well etc.)
Thank you
