Hey guys,

I am planning on applying this cycle to medical schools.
I have been concerned as to whether or not my ECs are enough.

-I have done 2 months research at a hospital over the summer (also had to work with patients)
-When I came back to school this semester, I started a different lab in October so its been 4 months right now, but I going to do it until i graduate which is another year.
-I worked at a camp as an office admin (non-clinical)
-I am an academic peer advisor (non clinical)
-Ive worked at a pharmacy since high school
-I am part of a pre-med frat and have volunteered through it.

Trying to get shadowing right now

I don't know whether this would be too late or not but over the summer while I am still applying, I plan on either volunteering or getting this internship and also shadowing along with it. I am wondering whether doing stuff over this summer is too late if I plan on applying over the summer as well.

As for what I have got right now, is that enough or decent if the stuff I do over a sumer can count as well?

my cGPA is 3.76 my sGPA is 3.7. I am still waiting on my mcats

Thanks!

you have a nice GPA.

You have a good breadth of experience; but do you have the depth? 1.5yrs for lab thing is good. But how long are some of the other things? (rhetorical)

You want to make sure that your application is coherent. Pick some of the most important things and invest in those. I did a number of ECs but ultimately paired things down once I found the ones I liked the most.

Hopefully your MCAT is on par with your GPA or better and it looks like you'll have a nice application IMO. 🙂

IMO, the EC that really counts is the one you can mark "Most Significant Experience" in your AMCAS and can really elaborate on in essays/interviews. This is preferably the one you committed the most time to (think a year or two at minimum). This is the EC that really made you positive about a career in medicine over any other career.

Of course, in addition to that one "most significant" experience, you need the standard run of the mill clinical experience, work/volunteer experience, research, and leadership positions. It seems you have this area covered pretty well.

Hey guys,
-I have done 2 months research at a hospital over the summer (also had to work with patients) (Good : research experience)
-When I came back to school this semester, I started a different lab in October so its been 4 months right now, but I going to do it until i graduate which is another year. (Good : research experience)
-I worked at a camp as an office admin (non-clinical) Good: work experience
-I am an academic peer advisor (non clinical) Good: leadership qualities
-Ive worked at a pharmacy since high school Good work experience, but you should be able to explain why this led you to medicine and not pharmacy school.
-I am part of a pre-med frat and have volunteered through it. Good: volunteer experience

Now which of these was really the one most important to you? If you can identify one, then you're all set!
