Are my ECs good enough for me to apply to MDs this cycle?

I wanted to know if my ECs are good enough for MD school standards, because I plan to apply this cycle.

  • 2 years Anthropology research (2 abstracts, 1 poster, no publications)
  • 150 hours volunteering in healthcare facility
  • 50 hours outpatient health clinic volunteering
  • 50 shadowing hours in 5 specialties
  • 300+ hours non clinical volunteer hours
  • a couple part time jobs during the school year
My thoughts are mainly considering if my shadowing hours are too low, and whether not doing any bench or wet lab research will affect my chances. I don't really plan to apply heavily to research powerhouses, but I might sprinkle in 2-3 on my school list if I like them.

Are my ECs good enough for an MD interview/acceptance? I don't think I can do any more currently to improve them by the time I want to submit my app this cycle, so any new activities I join won't be reflected in this cycle.

For general purposes, yes.

I had fewer clinical hours and less research this past cycle, and I got 4 IIs and 1 acceptance. Assuming your stats are good, you should be fine. The research should be enough for all but the most research intensive schools (like Stanford).

Edit: Here is my WAMC thread

ECs look pretty good! Now you just gotta write about them 8000 times for secondaries
