Hi, this is my first post and I guess I have a question. I am planning on applying dental school this upcoming summer but I don't know if the grades I have would lower my chances.

My sciences grades:
Biology 1 Lecture & Lab - A, A
Biology 2 Lecture & Lab - B, A
Chemistry 1 - B
Chemistry 2 - B
OChem 1 Lecture & Lab - D, A
OChem 2 - B
Physics 1 Lecture & Lab - B, A
Physics 2 Lecture & Lab - B, B

Currently taking:
Evolutionary Biology - C
Microbiology - B
Cell & Molecular Biology - B
Biochemistry 1 - C

So far without the classes I'm taking this fall, my GPA is at a 3.07. (Most of my grades are mostly B's as you can see). I'm also planning on taking the DAT in February and hopefully score a 22 or higher. My question is, is my status low? If so what should I do? I also have a lot of volunteer/community service hours, leaderships roles, and shadowing hours.

def retake at least O-chem 1 lecture - you need a C at almost all schools I believe for your prereqs

I have many interviews haven gotten D's and C's in college. You'l be fine.

GPA is a little low def want to be in the 3.2/3.3+ range. Also did you take Gen Chem lab? What about Ochem 2 lab? Also you should definitely retake Ochem 1! Any idea what your science GPA is?

Cs and Ds aren't deal breakers (from personal experience). But you'll have to compensate accordingly in other areas to get a/your desired selection of invites.

Like Bucks said, you'll need to retake any pre-requisites you get a C- or below in.

Rock that DAT and make sure either/both of your extra-curricular and/or personal statement make you stand out.

Well I got college credit from high school for Gen Chem 1 & 2. Ochem 1, I took it at a college in the summer, which gave two grades lecture & Lab. Ochem 2, the lecture and lab were together into one grade. And for my science GPA, I'm not sure how to do that. I think it would probably be around a 3.00

Ok thanks for your help 🙂

its all good as long as you above 3.00 sgpa. Maybe change that 'D' though.

Just to make you feel better, there are people here with sgpa's lower than 3.00.
