I looking at a C to C+ in my calculus based physics class and my question is if the physics grades are really looked at by the dental schools and how it really effects science GPA?

yes, d-schools look at physics grades (they are pre-reqs). physics is factored into your BCP and science gpa.

jb!🙂

Schools look at your physics grades, but because you took calculus-based physics... schools MIGHT cut you a little bit of slack. To my knowledge, most dental schools require algebra-based physics, unless it's changed for the upcoming application cycle.

from what I have heard and my roommate who is an engineering major, he said the algebra based was actually harder and that with the calc. based you can take short cuts by doing integrals and derivatives.

............. have told me that they don't differentiate between calc based or algebra based physics grades (they don't have time to research course descriptions). Most only require algebra based but if you took calc based and got a lower grade they do not cut you any slack. Also, some schools have a B cut off for pre-reqs and some have a C cut off. Find out what the schools that you are most interested in require.

Best piece of advice I could give is just do the best you can..Every year there is more and more people applying..which means more and more tiny details(like maybe a C) could be used against you...
