Are secondaries sent automatically?

I've received requests from 9 of the 14 schools I've applied to.
Do schools send these to everyone automatically, or is it a sign that I have a chance with them?

Usually, they are sent to all applicants. But sometimes they aren't.

I would complete all secondaries as soon as possible, either way.

Depends on the school. There is a thread floating around that lists schools that screen for secondaries. Most of the time the screen is based on MCAT and GPA. Most schools send their secondaries to everyone or almost everyone who is remotely competitive (some schools have cut offs at a 3.0 and a 25).
