Are the 2001 Kaplan lecture notes too outdated to use for this year's Step 1?

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
i would say yes if that is going to be your exclusive source on info for studying...but if you supplement in a few other books they should be fine...

From what I've heard the material hasn't changed much since the 2001 books, which I've heard are basically the same books as the 2002-03 books except for how they're organized and Immuno being rewritten. People with the 2004-05 books have also said there's not much difference there either.

Do others agree with this or were there significant changes?

I actually don't like the new 2006 First Aid as much as older editions.

I have both 2003 and 2006, and think a fair amount was cut out in creating the new systems-based approach. Given another year or two, and some student feedback, they'll probably have this approach down, but for now, I'm actually using both.

As many before me who've been successful on Step 1 have said, First Aid is a good roadmap, but hardly a stand-alone resource.

As to Kaplan notes, I actually had a chance to look through the most recent Kaplan lecture notes at our local Kaplan center, and while I spent only about 30 minutes looking through them, I couldn't see any difference between these and the 2002 edition - same material, same review questions, same diagrams. I do think the Path section is weak compared to BRS or Goljan, but the rest seems solid based upon working with it.

Just my 2 cents...

I was thinking of just using FA 2006. Are most ppl using that in conjunction with an older version? I have the '01 so I guess I could use them side by side for comparison. What do you think?
