Are there any DO schools in California?

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Reading the past couple of threads from clueless, unresourceful premeds, I'm really scared for the future of DO if this continues to happen, and it isn't because of the merger...

Oh, don't worry. Lazy people don't get very far in the process. Hard work is still a much desired attribute in medicine (much more so than any test score - dumb is teachable, but nobody wants a lazy doctor, and nobody wants to work with a lazy resident).

How do you not know what schools to look for and where they are coming from and applying out of a super competitive state like Cali?

I'm sure the application itself will weed you out. Hopefully not but bruhhh... this app cycle will be fun for you lol

From the more pre-meds I talk to and even newly accepted med students I know getting in... this seems to be more and more true everyday!

Yeah OPs got a lot of work ahead of him. Suggest he gets his grades up first before wondering about what DO school he should select.

OP I don't actually know you so I'm just saying this due to your post history, and I'm not trying to be rude or anything. But you seem a bit immature for this route as of right now. Now I'm not saying I was always the most mature responsible adult in the world, heck I didn't get my crap together until I was just a little bit younger than you. Some people reach mental maturity at different ages. You may want to take a step back from the medical pathway for a bit.

Take some time, however long it may be. Take a good long hard look at your life, is this really what you want to do? Can you really see yourself doing this for the rest of your life? Yes this is just undergrad and the courses you may be taking having little to do with what you'll be researching and learning about, but you will be constantly keeping up with education and research for the rest of your life. Doctors don't stop studying and researching(not as in laboratory work but as in looking things up on their own) ever. You need to be responsible enough to handle this pathway before you ruin your chances even more.

Shadow a doctor, volunteer in a hospital, get some sort of medical experience find out if it's for you. Not for your parents of for the pay, the pay really isn't anything to brag about until your 40 anyways. Being stuck in incredible amounts of debt doing a job you hate sounds like an utter he** to me.

When it comes to the cheating, you are going to have to stop thinking about your standing when it comes to applying for a while. Focus on something else, whether it be another field in the biological sciences or some form of altruism and giving back. Something that is meaningful to you, whatever it be. You need to focus on turning your life around, and doing what's best for you. If you did get that IA, it is going to take years of maturity and academic success to overcome it. So shift your focus on getting into medical school to something else for a couple years, if down the road you find yourself still wanting to pursue this path for your own reasons then you will be in a much better position to prepare for it.

Sorry for derailing from the subject at hand, yes there are DO schools in Cali. Yes you could have easily googled that. My sincerest apologies for digging in your post history, hope none of this offends you. Just trying to offer my sincerest advice.

Best of luck.

Not trying to be harsh... but chances are that the OP will probably be weeded out of the app cycle by the time he/she comes to the transcript placement on the AACOMAS app anyway if he/she cannot muster the proper amount of due diligence on their part to look something like this by themselves.

Why isn't this thread closed yet?

Because another one will just pop up to take its place. Look at the pre-osteo section right now, there's a thread asking for an average GPA and MCAT by school... Like that hasn't been done a bazillion times before.

Half of those folks are probably gonna be reapplicants next year too since they can't take the time to do their own research and find the answers to their own questions without relying on others to find stuff for them.

lolz oh well. :cigar:
