Are these books enough for the PTCB? Anything for the math?

Okay so, I am going to be self studying for the PTCB and the books that I am going to get are 1). Mosby's Review 2). The pharmacy technician and the workbook to go with it. Should I get anything else? I heard the test is math heavy at times? So what good books are there for the math part? Is all what I have in mind so far enough? Is the math hard btw? Are there any workbooks you guys recommend me to get for the math questions?

From what I remember I only studied through the Mosby's Review book for the PTCB and the math is very straightforward. Nothing particularly confusing about the math. You review and do some run through questions and you should do fine on the test.

did u feel the mosbys was enough? do you think ill need the other books then? and thank you.

i had no experience with pharmacy prior to that test and just about a week of reviewing that book was enough for me. But it will differ among people and study habits, but I found the test quite straight forward. I just reviewed and did the practice questions and that should give you a good basis for the exam.

I only used the pharmacy technician when I was studying for my exam and easily passed. I also had two years of tech experience though, so I didn't need a lot of review. But I've also heard great things about Mosby's, even though I didn't personally use it.

How many hours did you put in each day for the week you had to study?

about 2 to 3 hours a day. But it was not straight plow through 2 - 3 hours studying. more like 1 hour then break and then do something else and then regain focus.

I only used these websites. Drilled the tests and sigs and math portions. Disregarded the 200 Top Drugs. I guessed on the test.

Keep in mind that the test has changed. It was changed Nov. 2013. Not by much, but I'm not sure what the new test looks like. Old books might not be as accurate anymore but should still be very helpful.

Good luck! 😀
