Hey guys, I had a question about whether the dat scores I just got today are good enough for certain schools. Oh yeah, I will be posting my experience of the dat in the dat section later on tonight. I just held off not sending some official dat scores until I knew what I Got. First my scores from today were:

BIO:22
CHEM:21
OCHEM:18
PAT:18
RC:20
QR:18
AA:20
TS:20

stats:3.3 GPA

I am happy about these, and I really am not having another one of those posts, where one asks if their stats are good with 20's all across the board.

I was thinking of applying to UOP, but i highly doubt my scores are high enough. Am i correct? I was thinking of San Francisco, but I am an out of stater, so I highly doubt that. Also, Loma Linda has a higher overall gpa than mine so I am not sure there. I'm looking at the ADEA official guide and find that my scores are a bit above the avg of most schools, but since these stats are old, and by how so many ppl here on sdn seem to be getting 20's I do not know if my stats are just average or a bit above. I want to take a shot at these schools, and am wondering if anyone of you got into these with similar stats, especially UOP, with a PAT of 18. I really hope I get interviews, and that my application isn't too late, as they are just missing my dat scores. Also, do you guys think I applied to too many schools, including howard and meharry for a total of 18 (reason is I didn't know how my american dat would turn out). Im not sure if i want to send them my official dat reports as I did not know at the time they look for minorities, as I am not one. Thanks alot guys, SDN is truly a great place

Hey Audio, yeah, I took the Canadian dat already but wasn't happy, so I took the american dat today.

I talked to a friend today and she said that I shouldnt be happy yet with my dat scores as there is a verification process of the scores again at the ADA testing services. Has anyone ever got a score report from prometric that didn't match their official? It has me worried

Your friend is on crack. This really isn't something to worry about. They send the scores you have in your hand. I really wouldn't lose any sleep over this.

Huh? You have nothing to worry about and don't let the words of your friend keep you up at night.

Hey Jessica,

How would you compare the American and Canadian DAT in terms of difficulty?

KHANSAHAAB. According to my DAT prep tutor, he told me the Canadian version is a bit easier than American version b/c you get to write it on paper instead of on computer. Writing on paper gives you some advantages on PAT and RC sections. The difficulty of the questions is pretty similiar.

I have contacted most of dental schools that are known to accept Canadians, and they all told me applicants with Canada DAT score will not be in a disadvantage position compared to other applicanst with American score. So, I am just wondering, Newhere, why did you choose to take the American DAT? Is it b/c you want to have a high score ASAP for this application cycle?
Or did you find out some schools pefer American DAT over Canadian DAT?

Thanks.

Your scores are good. Even though it must have cost a fortune, the more schools you apply the merrier... Just hang tight and let things happen.. You got the same average scores and GPA that I had and I got into 2/3 of the schools I applied to 2 years ago... Good luck!!
