So I don't have too many dental related EC's and Work...Between the pertinent and the non-pertinent here is what I have so far:

Summer of Red Cross volunteering
Competitive Tennis
Community college tutor

I've shadowed a bit (60+ hrs) but I plan to dedicate the next 2 years to school and the DAT.

Will the fact that there is only 1 dental related job hurt me?
I don't plan on researching, will my application be less competitive?
Are these EC's sufficient?? or should I get some more?

I think you have a decent amount of ECs.
If you have an extra time, do more shadowing or something related to dentistry. But, I feel like if you have a decent DAT score/GPA, your application would be pretty competitive.

For example, even though one has 2.5 GPA, 16 DAT, and a decent amount of ECs, he or she would have a less chance than another one with 3.5 GPA, 20 DAT, and a little amount of ECs.. EC is a great factor for admission, but I feel like DAT and GPA are more important.....IMO 😛 Good luck!

yeah I think you are good in the volunteering department and your shadowing numbers are good as well. What will get you your interviews is your GPA and DAT scores, so it's a good idea to focus heavily on that. However, I would continue volunteer work such as your tutoring and get more shadowing hours in as well. Shadowing a specialist or two won't hurt either. You can try to see if you can volunteer at any dental clinics as well.
