Hello everyone. I have a couple questions and hope someone can help me out. I will be getting my BS at the end of this year, and have all pre reqs completed. I have waited way too long to submit my application, I don't even have a pharmcas screen name yet! BUT I STILL WANT TO APPLY. Most of the schools im applying to is NOV 1. On the pharmcas website it says they must receive letters, transcripts, etc by Nov. 1. What does this mean exactly? Do they have to get it and process it by Nov. 1? I'm lost...

Not to be a smart-ass, but when they say that they must receive everything by Nov. 1, it means just that--they must RECEIVE everything by Nov. 1. So, if I were you, I would definitely start sending everything NOW so that it gets to PharmCAS in time. Good luck :luck:

No... i think you're wrong "smart-ass" You just need to have clicked Submitted by that date.

then y ask......DUH🙄

Maybe it depends on the schools too, I know UOP when they had their Tier deadlines, when they meant September 1st, they meant pharmCAS had to have already recieved and updated the letters of rec and transcripts BY september 1st.

Well to the OP hopefully you already have all your LORS because thats the most time sensitive part, everything else you can do on your own. If you have yours LORS then just bust your but and you can do it, if not, then, ASK NOW!

I'm not going to lie though, it'll probably come down to the wire if you haven't asked your profs for letters and it'll be stress stress stress

i agree. I did my apps last year down the wire last year, and it was horrible. I esubmitted on Nov 1st and i went to the post office at 4:30pm so i could get my supp apps postmarked by that day. i say, if you can get your LOR's in to pharmcas by Oct 31st, then you have a good chance at making the Nov 1st deadline.

but keep in mind the other thing you have to do.
There's the pharmcas essay, which could be time consuming, depending on how many revisions you have to go through.

Plus, for each school you are going to apply to, you will have to write essays in their supplemental applications and those revisions too.

Other than that, there's a lot of tedious work about filling in your name and personal info for pharmcas and supplemental apps, which isn't hard, but it does take some time, when you have to do several supp apps. Then there's the coursework you have to fill in for pharmcas, and a couple of supp apps (UCSF, USC) asks you to do that on their supp apps i beleive. like i said, not hard but time consuming.

So just keep all those things in mind, it's October 14 right now. If you can get your LOR's in by Oct 31st, you should be okay. I've heard other people say that as long as you esubmit your pharmcas by nov 1st then your LOR's can be sent to pharmcas afterwards, but i can't confirm that and wouldn't want to take that chance.

Last year, i cut it down to the wire and i regretted it b/c so many people got in their apps before me and had a better chance b/c they sent it in earlier.
Also, i didn't sign one sheet on my UOP app and they never told me. Since i submitted it right at the deadline, there was no use correcting the mistake since it would have been after the deadline and having no chance.

On the plus side, me screwing up last year left me motivated to start early this year and was more prepared on the process b/c i was already familiar with it.

So to sum up, if you can get those LOR's in on time, and if you can finish those pharmcas essays and supp apps' essays done in time, then you have a shot at getting in this year.

Hope this helps, that's just from my personal experience. But i think that's what's cool about this SDN forum, people can tell their stories so others can learn from your mistakes. Man I rambled a lot.

p.s. I'm assuming you're applying to CA schools so to give you a heads up. USC wants you to send a copy of your transcript directly to them. And i beleive Western wants you to send LOR's directly to them.

Good Luck, Cheers

thanks for all the input guys....i guess i'll just have to call pharmcas myself to be sure. I WILL POST HERE ON WHAT THEY HAD TO SAY. my main concern is transcripts actually....

If I were you, I would just cut to the chase and request your transcript on Monday. Why waste a couple of days wondering if it needs to be received or postmarked by November 1st when you can request it asap and get it in faster. If you request everything now and keep on top of making sure your schools send em in, they should receive it by the 1st. And don't forget you can e-submit without having all your LORs in (as long as they get in by the deadline).
