Hi everyone, I just found out today that I passed my NAVLE (YAY!) and picked the state of my school when originally registered because I wasn't sure where I wanted to go. I decided to go back to Arizona and now am trying to figure out how to apply for a license there. I found their website and have all the paperwork, but it's a bit convoluted and long. Do I have to be in Arizona for the state exam or is that something I can do here? How long does it take to get results? I graduate in May and trying to get the rest of it figured out. Any guidance would be greatly appreciated.

You will have to have your NAVLE scores transferred to Arizona, I don't think it is that difficult. When I signed up for NAVLE I had the scores go directly to AZ as my state so I can't help you too much there, but I will give you the email to the awesome lady who runs the AZ state board stuff, she can for sure assist you.

As far as the exam goes, it is offered once per month and you do have to be in Arizona to take it. You will have results that same day (basically she calls you if you don't pass so if you don't hear from her, you are golden), you get the official letter about a week later. The exam itself is very straightforward, mostly about rules and regulations (they send you books for studying, if you read them twice you will be fine) and a few questions on actual veterinary things, nothing difficult. Know a bit about Valley Fever since it is so common here.

Kody is the amazing person who oversees ALL the things involved with licensing and stuff. You can email her at

If you have any further questions, don't hesitate to ask!

Congrats on passing NAVLE! 🙂

Thank you! You saved me a lot of search time.
