Well I really don't want to do this but what school would you go to? I guess this is more of a question for utah dents?

You can also throw in Case and Marquette if wanted!

I think it will be a tough choice matter what for me, but any suggestions would help

Congrats on the RDEP. It must feel good to be one of ten selected.

I feel ya on the confusion. I have been to all your schools mentioned and I am about where you are in the decision making process.

RDEP-I wasn't too hot on being in that small room most of the day here at the U. I also wasn't sure how the cirriculum differs from the kids in Omaha. Dr Powell was really nice though. I am not sure the cost is that much of a pro though because of the lower pay here in Utah afterward. (?)

What cons have you come up with?

A few cons of the RDEP:

Omaha
Staying in Utah another year
Taking classes with the med school and undergrads(I hear the do not cover a lot of information that dental schools cover)
Being seperated from the Creigton student

and others

With RDEP/Creighton you'll be saving some money over Arizona. What I can promise you though, is that you'll have a much more enjoyable dental education in Arizona. If you'd prefer a low-stress environment then choose Arizona. I've actually *enjoyed* my dental school education.

I honestly think your decision is quite easy! Are you planning on practicing in Utah when you are done? If you are, go Creighton, it is too sweet of a deal to pass up! If you're not sure or are planning on practicing somewhere else, Arizona is most definately the school for you!

Are they still doing the R-Dep at large? That's the ticket I wish I could have had. I'd like to second Gavin's post. I love it here in AZ. I've always heard mixed things about Creighton and R-Dep. Some folks love it...some folks talk a lot of trash about it. No personal experience though. Do what feels right for you.

As for the returning to Utah thing...Are you 100% positive that you will go back to Utah? I wish I could say that I was but I'm not. It would be awesome to be close to family, but there are so many dentists and the fees are so low. For example...if I do a molar endo at ASDOH, the fee is almost 600 big ones. Ask a dentist in Utah what he charges for molar endo...probably about the same. Sometimes it might not be the right move to go home - but I guess I won't know the best place for me to end up for a couple of years still. Just keep it in mind (unless Dad has a practice he plans to hand over as soon as you graduate).
