So, is anyone else applying to the Army-Baylor program? Last year we had a large thread going on with all of the applicants and I'd like to get it started again. I just finished up the application and am anxiously awaiting the phone interview. Anyone else?

Hey OState23,
I completed my physical in SLC MEPS earlier this month. I now play the sit and wait game for my interview. Have you heard anything yet?

Best of luck!

Hey guys,

Same Boat! Finished all of my requirements by early December and now just waiting to hear on when my interview will take place. Have you guys taken any steps in preparing, looking for some advice on what types of questions to expect and generally what they are looking for. Thanks!

This is my first year applying to Army-Baylor. My application packet was complete in early December and I am also waiting to hear about my interview.

I applied as well. I don't believe i have a real shot on getting in though, but it's such an amazing program, i had to, at least, give it my best. I just had the interview yesterday morning. The LTC I spoke to was incredibly nice and easy to talk to. He told me the applicants will hear in March. Good luck everyone!

According to an e-mail received from my recruiter today, she is unaware of anyone bing contacted for an interview (from our region I should add). I believe that on paper I look like an average candidate, but am really looking forward to using my interview to make a great impression. My recruiter shared some of the interview remarks on a teleconference and pointed out that some awesome candidates on paper have blown the interview and not been offered admission, while some seemingly mediocre candidates blew their interviewer away and jumped ahead of people who were better on paper. Good luck to everyone.

@astewart1986 - I have heard similar stories and frankly find it strange that you will not have a chance at an interview, can I ask what region you are in?

@CortneyDPT - Glad to here your interview went well, do you remember the name of the LTC you spoke with? Any questions catch you off guard and how long did the whole talk last?

I still have not heard from anyone at the program about my interview date/time, I have a tele-con with my recruiter tomorrow morning so I'm hoping to find out then.

I live in Florida. His name was LTC Croy. He messaged myself and probably 15 others about when to call, schedes the time in 30 min intervals. He actually called a bit later than I expected but I know they are very busy so I cleared my schedule. The call lasted 20 minutes and there wasn't any questions I was entirely surprised by. I was terrified though, but hopefully I came off confident!

My understanding is that we will have an opportunity to interview, just not as early as anticipated. I was instructed to follow up if not contacted by next Friday. I am in the Northeast Region.

Gotcha! I'm in the Northeast as well, looking forward for the interview to be over so I can relax a little bit until the end of Feb. when we find out if we get in.

I was contacted yesterday about my interview, which will be next Wednesday at noon. LTC Koppenhaver is conducting his interviews next Wednesday and Thurdsay.

Thanks! I also got the email, will be interviewing at 10am on Wednesday with LTC Koppenhaver. I wish you luck although it doesnt really seem like you need it, you seem very confident and i'm sure will make a great impression!

You can't let yourself get too worked up over it. At the end of the day LTC Koppenhaver and all of the interviewers are humans just as we are and have experienced what we are going through. I believe that if you are well prepared, articulate, and maintain your military bearing you should not have any problems. Right now I am pretty calm, but I know I will be more nervous in the hours leading up to the interview. I also have my interview with George Washington U next week (Friday). After my interview Tuesday I'm sure I'll be even more prepared for it. Best of luck to you and everyone applying. We've all have done what is necessary to make it this far, so remember what is motivating you to do embark on this journey and be as confident as you feel I am.

Thanks for the advice, you're right hes just a man who was in same shoes that we were at one point and i'm sure will know exactly where we're coming from. Military bearings shouldn't be an issue, more concerned about time...want to make sure I have the chance to say everything that I want to. I think everyone's story and what brought them here is what the recruiters should get a chance to hear to get an understanding of what this opportunity means to us and why we strive towards this goal. Good luck!

I had my interview Wednesday morning; I live in California if anyone is wondering. Good luck everyone!

I'm applying next year so I'm anxious to see how this goes for everyone. This may seem like an odd question but do any of you have tattoos? The new AR 670-1 is supposedly going to have much stricter restrictions on tattoos. I'm in Active Reserve (AGR) and the word we are getting that a new reg is coming out but they have no idea when. I'm curious whether any of you ran into any grief during your processing. I have small, but tasteful tattoos, on both forearms. Under the current reg they are okay but if the SMA gets his way they won't allow anything below the elbow.

Well, I had my interview yesterday morning and it wasn't nearly as bad as I had imagined. LTC Koppenhaver was really nice and easy to talk to but seemed to get a bit inpatient as our interview went over the 20 minutes he wanted to limit it to. I guess now its just a waiting game, i guess we should know by early March!

@scrawnyguy : glad to hear you're thinking of applying next year, its certainly a long process but very doable if you are dedicated! As far as tattoos, I would contact you're respective recruiter whose contact info can be found on the Army-Baylor website and address them about the current regulations. I personally don't have any tattoos (yet?) so can't help you there. My military physical experience at MEPS was interesting to say the least, I sure was glad to be done with it.

I have two tattoos, both on my torso, both religious in nature. I got them both after I enlisted and purposely chose an area that would not be visible in any uniform, to include summer PTs. I was not asked any additional questions pertaining to my tattoos during the application process. Given you will not be applying until next year, the placement of your tattoos, and the anticipated new AR, you may have a completely different experience. I do know of some soldiers who have gone to Walter Reed and had their tattoos removed. I'm not suggesting that you have yours removed as we do not know for sure what will come out in the new reg or how that may affect current military personnel. My understanding is that some existing tattoos may be permitted under grandfather clause.

Since I am AGR I will have to discharge and reassess into the Regular Army. I was a recruiter myself for a while so I'm very familiar with MEPS and all of the nonsense that goes on there. I'm not going to remove anything until I know for sure. I'm just worried the new reg will come into effect at the last minute and I'll be hosed. I contacted my area's recruiter but she is still dealing with this year's board so I may have to wait a bit to get some answers. Anyhow, I don't want to hijack your thread. Good luck to you all.

I also applied to the Baylor program! Interview seemed to go well! I just wish we were done waiting =( It looks like I will have to put down a deposit on another school just so I have a fall back if Baylor says no.

Just out of curiosity did any of you have prerequisites remaining when you applied? I know you can have 2 left at board time but I'm wondering how big of a detriment it would be if one or two courses were remaining.

I am enrolled in my two outstanding prerequisites. I doubt it will affect their decision at all. If you have good grades throughout, I think it is pretty safe for them to assume you will get good grades in your last few classes. But I suppose I could be wrong. We should know for sure in 3-4 weeks.

I have one outstanding prerequisite that I am currently enrolled in. Civilian side it is typical for DPT applicants to have a course or even a semester to complete at the time of their application. I agree with johnnyidaho in that I don't think the affect will be that great.

So I talked to my recruiter the other day, and she told me there are only about 90 applications being taken to the board this year for 23 spots (20 Army, 3 Navy). Does that sound like what everyone else has heard? I was under the impression 120-150 was pretty typical.

We are still three weeks away from hearing, and I am super anxious! Can't wait!

I know there are no more than 23 applicants from NE region, so that number sounds about right. I do believe that the total number of applicants this year is down. My application has not been sent to the board yet; I guess as long as it gets there by deadline.

That's crazy. More than a quarter of the applicants will be accepted. I'm sure the overall caliber of applicants is higher than other programs, but still, one cannot help but like those odds compared to the five or so percent accepted by other programs.

I'm just hoping they notify before march 10th because I have other offers that want deposits by then. :/

It sounds like we should know in the first week of March. It'll be close, but I think you'll receive the information just in time.

Did your recruiter tell you that the board meets Feb 25th? I'm really nervous about finding out if I got in or not. I have offers from 3 schools so far but Baylor is my #1 choice! Also if you don't mind me asking what are your "stats" I have a GPA of 3.89 and gre of 158,156&4.5.

Yes, the board meets on the 25th. She said they meet pretty much all that week and have the regional recruiters make the announcements soon after. I am an alternate at two schools: #4 alternate at ISU, so that's just a matter of time before I get the green light, and no clue with EWU - they aren't nice enough to tell me my number in line. Baylor is by far my number one choice though. My stats are a bit lower than yours: GPA: 3.64 ish cumulative, 3.85 Prereq, 154,155&4.5.

I am so stressed with this waiting game 🙁 I was admitted to EWU, UPS, and Regis university. I just wish I knew what's happening with the next few years of my life...

Right?!! 🙂 Which way are you leaning with the other three schools you've been accepted?

There are also 2 AF slots for the US Army Baylor DPT program...I got selected for one of the 2 for the class starting this Nov.

Congrats! Ya in order to apply for the Air Force slots you had to already be in the Air Force, so I couldn't apply for one of those spots 🙁

Yeah we have about 12 more days until we find out who is selected for the remaining sports for army and navy.

If you are receiving this message, congratulations, you have made it to the board!
The board will begin reviewing packets tomorrow, 25 FEB - Friday, 28 FEB. I will be calling you within the next 2 weeks as soon as I find out the results.
There is still a possibility that the board will request an additional item or two from you, so keep your phone handy and make yourself readily available should you be needed.
The final cut for the Northeast resulted in 17 packets. I know some of you may be curious to know where you stand so I have copied the GPA and GRE scores for all my applicants below. I do not have access to all the results of the phone interviews yet and am unable to quantify any other items.
Last I heard about 3 weeks ago, there were 100 total packets but I imagine a few have dropped since then.

I know it has been a long arduous process and you have worked very hard to get here. This is a very competitive year, with many applicants having high scores, but also having impressive backgrounds and experiences. This will be a very difficult board.

Just received this from my recruiter in the NE. Gives an idea of how competitive the board will be. Good luck everyone!

Oh dear...I really hope that my scores are high enough to make the cut...thanks for this information!

Me too! Of course there are other factors, such as letters of recommendation, observation hours, past experience, and the interview, but the stats alone are very competitive. I have done a great job up until now keeping my mind distracted, and now I'm kind of nervous. Would have better for me to not see this until after, but good info regardless. Based on these states alone who ever gets accepted is most definitely deserving.

How many people applying for the west region?

I am much more nervous now after reading those GPA/GRE stats above since I am in the mid to lower end :/ I know it's quite a long shot but I'm still hoping for a miracle.

So if you do not receive this message, you did not make it to the board?

I'm sure this is just the NE recruiter trying to do her applicants a favor--don't trip.

Damn those are some kickass GPA's...

So if you do not receive this message, you did not make it to the board?

If you are from the NE and didn't receive this e-mail I'd contact MAJ Najera or SFC Manguil to find out why you weren't sent to the board. If you are from a different region that statement does not apply. As thereal25 stated, it was just our recruiter trying to give us an idea of where we stand based only on those numbers.

Well the board meets all week starting today! I am hoping for a phone call by the 7th! Last years class got called 10 days after the board started meeting...so Friday is 11 days after...it's been really hard to keep my mind off of it all..so anxious to find out.

Thank you for your response! I'm in the SE region. Anyone else on here in the same area?

I am from the west region I think...we had about 20 applicants go forward from the region 🙂

Has anyone heard how many hours the average applicant has logged?
