Army Fellowships

Can anyone comment on the competitiveness of fellowships following IM residency (cardio, ID, endocrine) and whether or not those who are interested are able to go straight from residency to fellowship or if most end up practicing as internists for a bit first. If I had my druthers I'd be at Madigan or WRAMC, so if anyone has specific knowledge about programs at those locations it would be much appreciated.

Cards and GI almost impossible to go straight from residency... the others have much better odds but they are hit or miss depending on the year.
