What do you mean by applying for a deferment? As I understand it, in the Air Force you can actually put "deferment" on the rank order list, but that is not possible in the Army. Do you mean that you wrote them a letter asking to for a deferment and explaining your reasons? Also, what did you put down for your specialty of choice? I think that is equally as important in a survey of who is requesting deferment. For the record, I did not request a deferral, but I only interviewed at two of the five programs, hoping that if I don't get either of those two none of the others will pick me up.
