I am a 47 year old MS I and have applied for the Navy HPSP. After doing some research I managed to contact the Navy HPSP program director and was told that my age was waiverable as long as I could complete my obligation by age 62. So I am waiting to hear back from them.

I was curious if the Army would be similarly open to waiving age for their HPSP. Has anyone heard of this happening? I am prior service (3 years enlisted in the Army). Thanks

Probably. They both operate under the same rules. What may hurt you is the uptick in applicants. They may be more willing to pass on someone who needs an age waiver than before.

For the 47 y/o Gentleman who qualified for the HPSP with the U.S. Navy, who was your recruiter? I am in the same situation, and would like to speak with someone concerning the HPSP for the U.S Navy.

I contacted the Navy's HPSP program director Capt Sandra Yerkes (you can find her contact info on their website). She then notified my region's recruiting command CO to have someone contact me.

If you look at the regulations for the Navy and the Army (and maybe the AF) you will see that age is not an automatic disqualifier. They list certain cutoffs (i.e. need to have graduated by age 42) but if they need you, they'll waive your age. But there's the catch; one year they might waive your age because they are not meeting goal and the next they've made their numbers and won't give you a second look. But you won't know if you don't try. And you also need to be proactive when it comes to your application. Visit their office often and get all required info/paperwork to them in a very timely fashion.

PM me if you have any specific questions.
