Hello, I am interested in joining the medical services corps and was hoping I could get feedback from people with firsthand experience. I realize most of you are medical doctors, however I am particularly interested in social work in the army, and the Fayetteville civilian to army social worker program. Does anyone have, or know someone who has, experience with this program or this MOS? I am interested in general job satisfaction and amount of client contact versus paperwork required, as well as the physical training requirements of being a medical officer. I am aware, of course, of BOLC, but was told by a soldier that medical officers are required to participate in Ruck marches every Wednesday which requires running 12 miles, jump out of planes, complete live tissue training....etc. in your experience do army social workers really have to complete such physical requirements on a weekly basis along with continued training such as attending airborne school, pathfinder, and air assault?

I appreciate any information you can provide me with, and if there are social workers from other branches I would love to hear from you as well.
