Hey guys!
I was offered the Army HPSP scholarship and am still waiting to hear back from the Air Force. I’d like to start formulating my decision now, especially since my recruiter mentioned that if I receive an Air Force offer, I’ll have limited time to decide.
I’m very interested in military service and have shadowed at an Air Force base, which I absolutely loved. Because of that experience, I think joining the military—at least for some time—is something I genuinely want to do.
With that being said, I’m interested in pursuing OMFS through the military and plan on attending a med-curriculum, pass/fail dental school. I’m unsure, however, whether it would be more advantageous to go Army or Air Force.
I still don’t know a whole lot about the differences between the two. From what I understand, the Army has more residency slots and offers a sign-on bonus. On the other hand, the Air Force seems to be known for better quality of life, generally being “treated better,” and a lower likelihood of deployment.
For those with insight or experience, I’d really appreciate hearing your thoughts on choosing between the Army and Air Force.
