aromatic question

Ok I think I know why the answer is what it is but can someone just tell me my reasoning is right or wrong.

Ok this compound would be aromatic 4n+2, however, the two carbons on the left side of the compound is SP3 hybrid and thus its not aromatic right?

correct. it has to be a completely conjugated cyclic pi system and obey the 4n+2 rule. this compound is non-aromatic.
