To give some context, I was arrested over 5 years ago for assault while I was in the military. It was a one time, completely isolated incident. All charges were dropped, no conviction or trial, and nothing on my record (clean record on Certiphi background check). However, the arrest/charges still shows on a level 2 fingerprint background check and I can’t expunge it.

I’ve been accepted to some schools, answered everything honestly, but I am concerned for whether or not a school would consider this withholding information if it comes up during clinicals, specifically VA rotations. Again, no conviction, charges dropped, only questions asked were about convictions and not arrests.

Can anyone attest to whether or not this would pose any major issues? I’d obviously need to explain myself when it comes up, which I have all appropriate documents handy, but would they consider this lying by omission, even if I answered all their application questions appropriately? Worried they’d dismiss me or something down the road which would obviously suck, so I’m trying to be proactive.

I know it comes up because I have a CNA license which required a level 2 check. All I had to do was submit an explanation to the nursing board and it seemed like no big deal. Obviously medical licensure is orders of magnitude different, but still.
